作为伯明翰音乐学院木管系的学生，你会感受到学生和老师之间互相支持、合作的氛围，这样的氛围是激励性的。

学院的专业教学人员以英国著名的表演者和教师为主，还有来访艺术学者或者客座教授开展的大师班。
学生们有机会参加伯明翰市立交响乐团（CBSO） 的面试，这是一个非常有价值且令人兴奋的项目。在面试之前，CBSO的成员会开展面试准备课程，面试之后，学生们也会得到反馈，为他们今后的面试工作增加经验。

Jenni Phillips
先后在Purcell School和皇家音乐学院学习，师从Michael Winfield。随后，她赢得了Countess of Munster Scholarship进入国家管弦研究中心学习。
在离开国家管弦研究中心之后不久，她便加入利物浦爱乐乐团担任双簧管首席，并定期进行巡回演出和录音。
1993年，她来到伯明翰，以自由职业身份加入伯明翰市立交响乐团和伯明翰皇家芭蕾舞团，并同时开始了其教学生涯。2011年8月，成为伯明翰音乐学院木管系主任。
Jenni Phillips参与了许多教学活动，包括为伯明翰市立交响乐团和伯明翰现代乐团开展研修班，并在国家青年管弦乐团的开放日和CBSO青年管弦乐团担任教师。
Sarah Burnett
Sarah先后在St Catharine's College和伦敦大学皇家音乐学院学习。1993年，她获得了奖学金并前往汉诺威的Hochschule for Music and Theater深造，师从Klaus Thunemann。除了任教于伯明翰音乐学院，同时也是皇家音乐学院教授，并任教于Purcell School。
她是一个活跃的自由管弦乐演奏者，与全国范围内的乐团合作，比如BBC交响乐团、BBC威尔士国家管弦乐团、皇家爱乐乐团、苏格兰室内乐团、伦敦爱乐乐团和the London Mozart Players等。

Audition：
本科：
Undergraduate Woodwind candidates must perform two pieces (or movements) of different styles and periods of their own choice. Candidates will also be asked to play scales (ABRSM Grade VIII standard) and sight read.
研究生：
Postgraduate Woodwind candidates will be asked to present a varied programme of about 15 minutes’ duration which may be drawn from the concerto repertoire. Players of Orchestral Woodwind instruments should also prepare two contrasting orchestral excerpts.
Interview：
As part of your audition there will be an informal interview. The panel will be interested to hear you talk about your artistic influences, your inspiration to be a musician and your career objectives.
This is also an opportunity for you to ask the panel questions about your Department and what life will be like as a musician in Birmingham. The audition and interview together will last for about half an hour. You will be invited to arrive before the audition for a warm-up that will last 25 minutes.
